The Reason For Evergreen Mandate Group Is To Make Nasko Governor - Niger Commissioner

Niger state Commissioner for Budget Alhaji Yahaya Dansalau on Saturday stated the reason for the formation of the Evergreen Mandate Group which is in the forefront of the campaign for the election of former Chief of Staff Government House Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko as Governor come 2015.
He said at the presentation of ‘A compendium on Umar Nasko’ that the Evergreen Mandate Group is to drive the much needed political change the state has yearned for since its establishment in 1976.
Dansalau  told the gathering made up of mostly youths from Kagara town of the state but which also attracted the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly alhaji Mohammed and some political appointees of Governor Babangida Aliyu that the drive for Nasko to become Governor of Niger state is real.
Nasko is one of the gubernatorial aspirants under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party with others including the Deputy Governor Ahmed Musa Ibeto Senator Nuhu Aliyu and Engineer Mustapha Bello.
Alhaji Dansalau declared that“ what we are witnessing is a movement by youths for the youths and in the interest of the youth’ before commending the Kagara youth Movement for hastily joining the train”.
The Commissioner noted that the change asked for in the state started  in 2007 when Governor Aliyu was elected for the first time as a governor, adding that he (Aliyu) maintained the trend by picking at least 70% of youths into the state executive council.
Defending the choice of Umar Nasko as the favoured aspirant for the governorship of the state by the EMG Yahaya dansalau said the former Chief of Staff Government house ‘is not too young to be governor’ saying that General Yakubu Gowon ruled Nigeria at a very young age while the Emir of Minna Dr Umar Farouq Bahago was enthroned at just 28 years.
Nasko he said has the requisite qualification to continue the good works that outgoing Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu has started.

The publicity secretary of Niger State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Hassan Saba, has asked defeated aspirants in the just concluded PDP governorship primaries to accept their fate, saying they are wrong for saying the conduct of the elections were flawed.
In a statement issued yesterday in Minna, Saba maintained that the conduct of the governorship primaries was flawless and a reflection of the wish of the people.

He said the joint press conference addressed by the contestants has the imprint of a script written in anticipation of failure borne strictly out of their inability to impress the people.
“I am indeed pleased with the outcome of the PDP primaries. I hail the leadership of the party for the smooth process, which characterised the primaries. Let me also thank most of the aspirants for conducting themselves in the best possible way during the exercise, it shows that the next general election in Niger State will be free of violence.
“For those who lost out in the last primaries, I call on you to join hands with the party candidates to ensure PDP win all elective positions in Niger State in 2015. We must not allow selfish interest erode our sense of deductive reasoning as team players and true democrats. For emphasis sake, the process was indeed flawless.”
It would be recalled that Alhaji Umar Nasko recorded victory over other candidates vying for the governorship candidacy of the PDP in the just concluded primaries, a feat which other aspirants told journalists was attained because exercise was not free and fair.

I’m Not Too Young To Be Niger Governor – Umar Nasko | 2 Comments
A leading governorship aspirant in Niger State on the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Umar Mohammed Nasko has declared his preparedness for the job, saying he is not too young to govern the state.
Nasko, who has already been endorsed by the governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu stated this yesterday in Minna, the state capital at a public declaration of his ambition to run for the governor of the state in the 2015 election.
At the Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium venue of the declaration, to told the large crowd of supporters from all over the state and party chieftains that at 40, he could not be said to be young to run the affairs of the state as suggested by his adversaries.
He contended that with the life expectancy of 50 years in Nigeria, he was not young to understand the peculiar demands and needs of people of the state as he had adequately prepared himself for the challenge ahead.
“In a country where life expectancy is put at less than fifty years, a forty-year old couldn’t be ‘too young’ to serve in the exalted office of state governor”, Nasko stated, emphasizing that he had received enough mentoring by Governor Aliyu to advance the course of development of the state.
He said he was overwhelmed by the large turn out on the occasion, describing it as a confirmation of “your belief in the capacity of the youth and the young at heart to provide purposeful leadership, because effective political leadershi p is not often defined by chronological age but the maturity of mind and capacity to mobilize mass support towards electoral victory”.
He promised to consolidate the achievements of the Babangida Aliyu administration and ensure the vision of making Niger State one of the three top economies in the year 2020 would come through.
Governor Aliyu was represented on the occasion by the Secretary to the State Government, Rt. Hon. Idris Ndako Kpaki who assured the crowd that the governor was in full support of Nasko’s candidacy.
