The Reason For Evergreen Mandate Group Is To Make Nasko Governor - Niger Commissioner
Niger state Commissioner for Budget Alhaji Yahaya Dansalau on Saturday stated the reason for the formation of the Evergreen Mandate Group which is in the forefront of the campaign for the election of former Chief of Staff Government House Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko as Governor come 2015.He said at the presentation of ‘A compendium on Umar Nasko’ that the Evergreen Mandate Group is to drive the much needed political change the state has yearned for since its establishment in 1976.
Dansalau told the gathering made up of mostly youths from Kagara town of the state but which also attracted the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly alhaji Mohammed and some political appointees of Governor Babangida Aliyu that the drive for Nasko to become Governor of Niger state is real.
Nasko is one of the gubernatorial aspirants under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party with others including the Deputy Governor Ahmed Musa Ibeto Senator Nuhu Aliyu and Engineer Mustapha Bello.
Alhaji Dansalau declared that“ what we are witnessing is a movement by youths for the youths and in the interest of the youth’ before commending the Kagara youth Movement for hastily joining the train”.
The Commissioner noted that the change asked for in the state started in 2007 when Governor Aliyu was elected for the first time as a governor, adding that he (Aliyu) maintained the trend by picking at least 70% of youths into the state executive council.
Defending the choice of Umar Nasko as the favoured aspirant for the governorship of the state by the EMG Yahaya dansalau said the former Chief of Staff Government house ‘is not too young to be governor’ saying that General Yakubu Gowon ruled Nigeria at a very young age while the Emir of Minna Dr Umar Farouq Bahago was enthroned at just 28 years.
Nasko he said has the requisite qualification to continue the good works that outgoing Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu has started.
