Breaking: Court summons PDP over Nasko as Niger gov'ship candidate
A Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday invited the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to appear to show cause why it should not be restrained from submitting the name of Alhaji Umar Nasko as governorship candidate for Niger State.Justice Ahmed Mohammed also ordered that the service of the court papers be effected on the PDP National Chairman Ahmadu Adamu Mu'azu, National Secretary Prof Wole Oladipo and the Independant National Electoral Commission (INEC) by substituted means latest on Tuesday morning.
A PDP governorship aspirant Engr Mu'azu Hanafi Sarkin Sudan had challenged the 908 votes purpotedly cast for Nasko at the primary of the party held on December 8.
He contended that the primary held at the Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, Minna are unlawful, unconstitutional, null and void and of no effect in that the votes are inconsistent with the Electoral Act, 2010.
The court will on December 19 hear the substantive matter.
